Lou Rowley-Jones - Governor

I come from an education family; teaching and learning is in my blood. I attended Perry Court Steiner School from 1984 - 1997 which developed my love for learning. The holistic approach of Waldorf education is key to ensuring we are educating pupils ready to face the challenges of living and working in the 21st century.

After attending university and fulfilling a post graduate teaching degree I started as an Early Years teacher, I taught 4 year olds for 10 years before entering school leadership. I have trained as a play therapist, hold the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and have many years of experience in developing educational provision for pupils.

In 2009 I became a senior leader in a deprived area of Kent, working in a large primary school which had only just opened. I supported and continue to lead on all aspects of school leadership involving safeguarding and compliance. It is my belief that every child is entitled to a secure, happy environment in which to learn. I am committed to exploring innovative education for children and am proud to currently work as part of a team that embraces thinking schools and forest school approaches.

I am excited to be part of New School Canterbury as it develops a pioneering education for pupils in Kent.
