Earth Day began on April 22, 1970 and has been an important day ever since. It's a day to nurture or love for the world in which we live and to remember the things we can do to help it stay healthy and well.
A few things we can all do:
During this time when we are all learning from home, we will be sharing some activities that will help our homes become places that do their best to support a healthier world. This week, we will be showing you how to make a natural spray cleaner for your home:
Ingredients: Orange Peel
White Wine Vinegar
A Spray Bottle
How to make it:
Put the orange and lemon peel (as much as you can pack in) into a jar and cover with white wine vinegar. Let this steep (rest) for 2 weeks and strain the vinegar and discard the peels. Add 1/2 a cup of your vinegar solution to your spray bottle. If you want a less strong spray you can dilute with water or to make it stronger add more vinegar. You can also add a few drops of lemon essential oil if you like.
How to use it:
Shake the mixture well, and then spray onto surface and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Yes, this still smells like vinegar! But only for a second. The vinegar scent quickly dissipates and you are left with a beautiful fresh citrus scent.
Do NOT use this cleaner on natural stone countertops or tiles. Extended use of vinegar can cause pitting in natural stone.
It is chemical free!
You get a lovely healthy boost of vitamin C from eating all the fruit after taking off the peel. This helps you to keep healthy too!
You have a new way to re-use old jam jars and spray bottles
Enjoy and have a lovely week!
