Job Description Position: Freelance Part Time Kindergarten Assistant
Appointed by: Board of Trustees
Reporting to: Kindergarten Lead Teacher
New School Canterbury is looking for a committed Early Years professional with:
a Level 3 qualification in Early Years as a minimum,
an interest in Steiner/Waldorf education and / or Pikler/RIE pedagogy,
a proven ability to relate to and inspire children,
the capacity to communicate and work well with colleagues and parents.
The Assistant will work in our May Tree Kindergarten under the mentorship of an experienced kindergarten teacher. Their role will include promoting the overall welfare of the children, maintaining an environment for positive creative play and the celebration of festivals. The afternoon activities take place outdoors.
Kindergarten Assistants work as part of a team with the kindergarten teachers, school teachers, the school management team, trustees and administrative staff.

We expect that this position will be of interest to people undertaking Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood training and professional development, although we are also open to receiving applications from candidates with mainstream Early Years training.
Hours: Full Time hours between 12:20pm and 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (35 weeks a year) during term-time. Plus 1 hour a week for meetings, planning, etc. Some evenings or weekend hours may be required.
